Louisiana State Capital

The Louisiana State Capitol is the seat of government for the U.S. state of Louisiana and is located in downtown Baton Rouge.

Louisiana State Insect

Honeybees are social insects that live in hives. Like all insects, bees have six legs, a three-part body, a pair of antennae, compound eyes, jointed legs, and a hard exoskeleton. The three body parts are the head, thorax, and abdomen. 

Louisiana State Reptile

Alligators are large, semi-aquatic carnivorous reptiles with four legs and a huge tail. The tail is half the animal's length; it helps propel the alligator through the water, is used to make pools of water during the dry seasons gator holes, is used as a weapon, and stores fat that the alligator will use for nourishment during the winter. Alligators are cold blooded,  they do not make their own body heat. They gain body heat by basking in the sun. 

Louisiana State Mammal

American Black Bears are large, mostly harmless bears that live mostly in forests, but also in swamps and desert scrub. These solitary mammals are found across North America. 

Louisiana State Bird

The Brown Pelican is a large bird that lives along the coasts of the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and Gulf of Mexico in North and South America. Its scientific name is Pelicans occidentals. 

Louisiana Largest City

The Capital of Louisiana is New Orleans.  New Orleans, the largest city in Louisiana, is located in the southeast part of the state, between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain. One of the few cities of the nation that has been under three flags, New Orleans has belonged to Spain, France, and the United States. The French founded it in 1718 and named it in honor of the Duke of Orleans. In 1762, France ceded the city and the territory to Spain. In 1800, the territory was returned to France, but government authorities did not take over until 1803, just 20 days before the region became part of the United States in the Louisiana Purchase.

 Louisiana food include Gumbo, Étouffée, Jambalaya, Muffuletta, Po'boy, and Red Beans and Rice. Seafood is especially popular in Louisiana either as an ingredient or as a main dish such as Shrimp, Crayfish, Crabs, Oysters and Catfish. These are just a few of Louisiana's food.
